Reykjavik Inn - Ecotourism / Environmental Policy

There is no smoking inside the Inns and apartments.
We have adopted and extended environmental guidelines and ecotourism for the benefit of the Icelandic environment and people.
- We encourage responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people
- You will not find your lodgings short on comport.
- By sharing the use of facilities (within short walking distance) with the local people, e.g. the swimming pool and sport center, local shops and restaurants (versus using such facilities on a hotel site) you will be contributing to the community and the environment.
- By visiting the natural areas next to the lodge and elsewhere in Iceland you will help to make nature preservation a viable economic choice for the local people.
- A compost bin is provided in the garden. (most locations)
- Recyclable items such as paper and soda tins and bottles should be left behind for us to take to the local recycle center.
All energy is of course generated using renewable sources such as hydro and geothermal power.
- As there is no problem with phosphor in our area we do not avoid it.
- We use liquid enzyme detergent for washing the linen.
- When the weather permits the linen and towels are dried outside.
- The last two points ensure that the linen is fresh and soft to the touch, we are also able to use the iron less.
- We buy in bulk and try to reduce the amount of packaging.
- Towels and new linen are provided to suits your needs, but you are encouraged to use them prudentially.
- Because so many services and facilities are within walking distance and the roads leading to our Mosfellsber locations are without traffic light it is our experience that gasoline usage tends to be lower for people staying at the there than those staying elsewhere in Reykjavik.
- You can arrange to take buses to various countryside destinations close by and the local bus which takes you to the center of Reykjavik can be caught just around the corner. (Flatmate Inn and Nature Inn, 1 Km from Villa Inn)
